BlizzPro's Warcraft

I’m a little hesitant to report on this because I haven’t seen any kind of official announcement on this, but it’s up on Amazon and available to pre-order and it flew on my radar earlier today. It appears that DK Publishing has a new World of Warcraft book titled “World of Warcraft: Ultimate Visual Guide”. It doesn’t appear that this is a “game guide” in the way that you have the Brady Games ones – this appears to be more of a visual style almost art book that is going to show some behind the scenes stuff behind World of Warcraft and it’s lore. For decades, the war between the Horde and the Alliance has raged on in the fantasy world of Azeroth. Millions of players have chosen a faction and fought alongside one another in Blizzard Entertainment’s critically acclaimed massively multiplayer online role-playing game, World of Warcraft® — and since ...

UPDATE: This is now available to US servers as well If you’re a World of Warcraft player living in Europe, the time is nigh to look into character services. According to their blog, Blizzard is running a special through this week where in the following services are a whopping 50% off: Character Transfers Faction Changes Race Changes Appearance Changes Name Changes This promotion will be running through June 10th, so if you live in Europe, now’s definitely the time to tinker with your character, or get them away from that terrible server you’ve dreaded playing on. There’s been no confirmation that North American players will enjoy the same benefit, but it seems highly unlikely that those of us playing stateside won’t get our shot at discounted character servers. Those looking to get in on this can get started on the European account management site. US players can get started here. ...

The Cross-Realm Zones (CRZ) feature has received a lot of criticism since being implemented, and that’s not likely to change anytime soon. What has changed though is the Darkmoon Faire, which now appears to be functioning with the the CRZ feature enabled. What does this change mean for the average World of Warcraft player? In reality, not a lot. There will be some heightened competition when it comes to hunting down the Darkmoon Rabbit. The beastie rewards those strong enough to slay it with the The Rabbit’s Dynamite! Achievement, as well a chance to win the Darkmoon Rabbit mini-pet. Beyond that though, it should be business as usual for adventurers looking to pop in and complete daily quests, or the profession specific quests available once per appearance of the Faire. Just so, CRZ remains a hot button issue with the community and those staunchly against the feature will likely continue ...

Did you miss the Mists of Pandaria promotion back in September 2012 where you could get a Horde or Alliance shirt for your Xbox Live avatar? Well, we have some codes for you given to us by the WoW community team and we want to share these codes with you. So what can you win? 1 of these 200 codes below: 50 Alliance shirts (male) (OUT) 50 Alliance shirts (female) (24 left) 50 Horde shirts (male) (OUT) 50 Horde shirts (female) (23 left) How do you win? Just fill out the form below. Mostly it’s going to be a first come/first serve way of doing things whenever I see them until everything is GONE. I’ll be updating this post when one of the shirt codes is out. The Form UPDATE: I took out the twitter and Facebook parts for now as we’re dwindling to the end. Easier to keep track ...

It’s been more than a week since World of Warcraft’s 5.3 patch went live. Escalation brought with it changes and improvements in a number of areas, the list including scenarios, PvP, pet battles, class balance and more. The time has come to pass judgment on the patch. Did Escalation accomplish what it set out to do? Did the updated narrative set a solid stage for 5.4? Is it worth grinding up yet another alt? BlizzPro, along with other members of the community sat down to discuss those and other questions in an effort to grade 5.3. With 5.3, Blizzard seemed to divide their attention between a number of areas, including pet battles, the designing of new scenarios and class balance changes, just to name a few. Would you rather see this again in the future or patches that focus on sweeping changes to one specific area, such as professions, or ...

In a recent interview with producer Charles Roven over on SlashFilm we got some new information on the Warcraft movie conveniently titled “WarCraft” (please note this movie is not called “World of Warcraft”). Earlier this year it was announced that Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) would be directing the movie after Sam Raimi was removed/left the project to what at the time seemed like it’s death. However, things have been in full swing and we’ve seen several updates from Duncan Jones on twitter regarding the movie and also several updates from Blizzard’s own cinematic VP Nick Carpenter who appears to have an important role in the movie as well. Charles Roven was quoted as saying “First quarter of 2014 we’re going to shoot the movie… we’re moving forward; obviously Legendary is making that film and I’m having a great time with Duncan.” Now this news a little bit off from ...

If you have $25.00 you don’t want and crave exclusive mounts, the latest addition to the World of Warcraft store might just be for you. Blizzard has unveiled a new Armored Bloodwing flying mount to the populace, and it looks pretty awesome. Here’s Blizzard’s official description of it via the store: Soar into battle atop the undisputed ruler of the night skies—the all-new Armored Bloodwing mount. This monstrous, flesh-eating bat is the perfect companion for trips that call for death and destruction. As per the norm, purchasing this new mount will unlock it across all characters on a single North American Battle.net account. Hey, we all need giant flesh eating bats, right?...

Gamers who play World of Warcraft claim to do so for a variety of reasons. Many players obsessively burn the midnight oil to progress in the latest raids, while others get their kicks from kicking the crap out of the opposite faction in battlegrounds, arenas and even the open world. You will even find  a group of industrious individuals out there who claim that manipulating the auction house to make absurd amounts of gold ignites their ongoing passion for the game. At the end of the day, no matter what the primary focus is during play, it is likely that we all agree to a common denominator which also spurs on our play: the all consuming need to grind achievement points. These ‘nerd points’ have been around since the final hours of Burning Crusade and have encouraged the community to get out into the world and experience old content, raise reputations, and ...

Veterans of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne should recall with little trouble the myriad of trials and tribulations the Blood Elves squared up against. The ancient race would endure the loss of their beloved Sunwell, suffer exile from the Alliance and even face the multitude of hardships waiting for them in Outland in a doomed effort to find a cure for their crippling addiction to raw magical energies. Unfortunately, it did not get much better for them in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Despite two promising low level zones, the beleaguered race would be forced to suffer a middling presence in Azeroth and Kalimdor, leading up to a fight against their own Prince, Kael’thas Sunstrider. The worst would come later though. Blizzard did little with the race, effectively joining them to the Horde and moving on.  Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm saw the Blood Elves do little. ...

Patch 5.3 Hotfixes: May 21

by JR Cook on

It’s inevitable in software development whenever you release a large patch – there will always be zero day bug fixes in the wake. We’ve seen what happens with large zero day bugs like what affected Diablo with Patch 1.0.8 a couple weeks back. Fortunately though, the hotfixes needed to day in WoW weren’t on that big of a scale.
