BlizzPro's Warcraft

A week ago several members of the World of Warcraft community and fansites were approached to participate in a segment that will air on tonight’s episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon during his Video Games Week. The episode will air tonight on NBC 12:35 AM EST/11:35 PM CST. BlizzPro’s official podcast TwizzCast was one of the community members approached for this little project so you might get to see their glorious faces tonight on mainstream television. As of right now we’re unsure if everyone who was approached was included so guess you’ll just have to watch tonight to see! We’ll be sure to post up the video once all is said and done. This was a great thing Jimmy Fallon and the Warcraft community team put together and I’d love to see the Warcraft community support this by tuning in tonight, hopping on Twitter, and using the #LateNight hashtag ...

Hot off the heels of the release of the Armored Bloodwing mount, Blizzard’s released another purchasable creature to the public. The Blossoming Ancient is an in-game pet that will actually change appearance depending on the time of the year, according to the store description. This adorable little tree creature will run gamers $10.00.  The Blizzard store offered this bit of background on the newest in-game pet: “Born from a seed of one of the Ancients, these spirited saplings are destined to regrow and heal Azeroth from the devastation caused by the Shattering. Adopt one, and you’ll be rewarded with joy throughout the year – as each new season begins, the Blossoming Ancient changes, bringing new life to its surroundings. Once activated, this in-game pet key applies to all present and future World of Warcraft characters on a single North American Battle.net account.”...

File this under “fluff” news, but it’s definitely still fun. Our friend Nick Carpenter is the Vice President of Art & Cinematic Development and he tweeted at us today this little treat. It’s always fun when your work turns you into a toy 🙂 @Blizz_Pro #warcraft @Warcraft #tbt pic.twitter.com/TUHkDfXNFS — Nick Carpenter (@FubarNick) June 14, 2013 Now if you’re dumb like me you were too busy looking at the picture instead of reading the tweet and spend the next hour trying to figure out what character of Warcraft lore this statue was. Hopefully you’re not dumb like me and you noticed that this action figure is of Nick Carpenter himself and it appears that he wants to be a Warrior tank when he grows up. It’s got to be pretty cool to have an action figure made after you, especially one of this quality. Working for Blizzard has to be long ...

Thanks to the wonder of data mining we’re learning all sorts of stuff about World of Warcraft’s 5.4 patch. Sadly, a lot what’s being unearthed is fairly spoiler heavy, but there are some amusing things that should not crush the souls of those looking to be surprised when the content becomes available, however far down the road that is. It looks like the Darkmoon Faire should be featuring another creature boss as of 5.4, the Darkmoon Wolf. The Dire Wolf is being called Moonfang at present and, similar to the Darkmoon Rabbit, will drop a battle pet, this one called Moon Moon. You’ll have to best the beast in battle first, however. Those familiar with internet memes will recognize Moon Moon as the daft wolf that most people do not want in their pack. Regardless, if you’re a collector of battle pets, you will want this incarnation of Moon Moon ...

Patch 5.4 PTR Coming Soon

by JR Cook on

Patch 5.4 is going to be up on the PTR very soon and we have the current patch notes for you! Some of the interesting new features in addition to the already announced Flex Raiding are the proving grounds and the virtual realms. I’m willing to bet virtual realms are Blizzard’s answer to the low population servers. It also looks like we’re getting a new area called the Timeless Isle and this patch will indeed have the Siege of Ogrimmar raid where we finally get to take out Garrosh. I’m looking very forward to this patch and we should have lots of content leading up to Patch 5.4 for those who don’t want to venture into the PTR. Patch 5.4 will be available for testing on the Public Test Realms (PTR) soon! Participating on the Public Test Realms lets you test new content before it’s available. This patch includes a ...

Henry Cavill has mentioned before that he’s addicted to World of Warcraft. We’ve also reported relatively recently that he was playing World of Warcraft and ignored Zach Snyder’s initial call when he got the lead role in the upcoming Superman movie “Man of Steel”. Henry Cavill was on the Tonight Show last night with Jay Leno to talk about the movie and they discussed the story a bit. The funniest part to me is the fact that you can tell that Jay Leno’s “reaction” to the story was completely scripted as after Cavill mentioned WoW you could hear females screaming excitedly about it. However, Jay responds with a lame joke about how the girls were responding with “oh… that’s also what my boyfriend plays all the time”. Just goes to show how much out of touch some of Hollywood is to the gaming culture – certain stereotypes need to end ...

Patch 5.4 Preview: Flex Raiding

by JR Cook on

Patch 5.3 has been out for a few weeks now, so it’s time to start hyping up Patch 5.4! The first feature that is getting previewed is a great one for smaller guilds or group of friends who see raiding as a social experience but still want to progress. World of Warcraft is introducing what they are calling “flex raiding” which basically functions as an in between for normal raid and looking for raid and the item level will fall in between those 2. Ever have a group of 12 people who want to go on a raid? Now you can. In fact any number of people between 10-25 can go on the raid and the raid difficulty will fluctuate on the fly for whatever size group you have – that is amazing and quite powerful. The Flex Raid is meant to gear more toward those social small groups who ...

The release date of the new Warcraft book “Vol’Jin: Shadows of the Horde” by Michael Stackpole is quickly approaching. On July 2 you’ll be able to read this book about how Vol’Jin and Chen team up to start kicking some Garrosh ass after Garrosh tries to have Vol’Jin assassinated. This is the first book that Michael Stackpole has written in the Blizzard Universe and it should be interesting to see how he does as I feel this is a pretty important book in the timeline. So far I have loved the story going on with Mists of Pandaria so I hope he’s able to pull it off and reading the preview below I think he might be able to. The book releases July 2, 2013 and the hardcover can be pre-ordered here for $15.95 or you can pick up the Kindle version here for $11.04. The full book description and preview is ...

Adventurer’s continuing through Wrathion’s legendary quest line will soon receive some relief when it comes to obtaining Titan Runestones. Lei Shen, the final boss of the Throne of Thunder raid, will soon drop a Runestone without fail upon being slain. Blizzard Community Representative Rygarius took to the Battle.net forums explaining the change. We agree and feel that Titan Runestones drop too rarely. We are going to make some changes to Lei Shen. For players that are on the legendary quest line, Lei Shen will now always drop a  Titan Runestone. This is similar to what we did with rare drops in the past and will help players that have been experiencing really bad luck. This change is still undergoing testing and is scheduled to take effect next Tuesday with the raid resets. It’s always nice to see Blizzard taking note of, and quickly correcting this sort of thing. This change ...

When it comes to creating a satisfying cinematic experience for the audience, casting is a huge part of the equation. Sure, films in the high fantasy genre often hinge on producing an over the top, larger than life experience with special effects, large scale war scenes and an epic score, but casting remains important. The internet learned last week that the Warcraft movie, aptly titled WarCraft, is once more heading in the right direction, and that shooting could begin in Q1 of 2014. While great news for gamers, the announcement came with scant details. In 2007, it was announced that the film would take place just before, or during the World of Warcraft game. There has been no definitive update on the title in that department since that announcement, so we have to believe the plan remains the same. In the interest of fun, BlizzPro sat down and looked at ...
