Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Magnarok, Frostfire Ridge Reward: Magnaron Heart We cross Draenor this week, away from Shadowmoon Valley and to the Horde’s starting zone, Frostfire Ridge – albeit the level 100 area of it, Magnarok. Valkor is a huge magnaron – one of the primal ancestors of the gronn – patrolling around the lava pools in Magnarok. Despite his intimidating size and health pool (2.5 million), he is a very easy fight for ranged players, as he only has a single ability: Smash. Smash has a long range: be careful not to get clipped by it, as it will deal very heavy damage – as much as 50% of your health pool – and

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: North Umbrafen, Shadowmoon Valley Reward: Ba’ruun’s Bountiful Bloom We branch out from Tanaan Jungle this week – although we’re nowhere near done with the rare spawns and vignettes in that zone, even after five months – to re-visit Shadowmoon Valley. If you’ve ever felt like you needed a pocket Mage, then this rare spawn is for you. Ba’ruun is a fungal giant in the Umbrafen marsh, standing on an island where it empties into the Tanaan Channel. You will need to cross the waters of the Channel to reach him, avoiding the Shockscale Eeels as you do so. As with most of the fungal giants found across Draenor and Outland,

Exploring Azeroth: Mardum

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland – but not this week. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path – or on another world. Today’s Exploring Draenor is totally not an excuse to write about my experiences in the World of Warcraft: Legion alpha test. Look, Demon Hunters start with an ability that lets them see treasure through walls, okay? This thing writes itself. Let’s begin with character creation. A new feature has been added that allows players to go back to customisation before logging the character in for the first time – basically, giving you all of the creation options again. Those options have been expanded for Demon Hunters, too – my Night Elf (because #AlliancePride #HeartOfALion #ForLordaeron) had new green and dark grey (almost black)

Location: Nagrand Reward: Steamwheedle Preservation Society reputation, ~270g Goblins are well known for their philanthropic ways. That short, ugly, money-grubbing exterior hides a charitable and generous heart – or at least, that’s what the Steamwheedle Preservation Society would have you believe. The thing is, goblins aren’t wholly convincing liars when they’re not trying to sell you a three-legged horse or an axe with no head (commonly known as ‘a stick’). The SPS is a goblin faction mainly found in Nagrand. Rewards for raising your reputation include pets (Captured Forest Sproutling, Indentured Albino River Calf), a mount (Domesticated Razorback), a new rare follower (Contract: Professor Felblast), and a toy…of sorts (spoiler: it’s a

Take a look at World of Warcraft: Legion‘s two launch raids in our continuing recap of this year’s BlizzCon. The two raids, Emerald Nightmare and Grand Palace of Suramar, will feature 7 and 10 bosses respectively and explore the new and returning threats in Legion: Lord Xavius, Gul’dan and the Nightborne. Emerald Nightmare Launching a couple weeks after Legion begins similar to Highmaul in Warlords of Draenor, Emerald Nightmare will be the first in-depth journey players have into the Emerald Dream. The raid has 7 bosses and culminates with a fight against Xavius. Quick recap: the Emerald Dream has been a popular fan theory for either an entire expansion or a major content patch for years. In essence, it’s a parallel dimension that mimics Azeroth as a sort of “blue print.” Some lore originally said that the dimension only echoed the original Azeroth–pre-Sundering, when the world was one landmass around the Well

When Hazzicostas said that dungeons would be at the heart of Legion, he wasn’t playing around. Legion will feature tons of new 5-man content, including 5 level-up dungeons, 5 max-level dungeons, and an expanded challenge mode system designed to keep these instances relevant in a way that Warlords dungeons weren’t. The Dungeons Dungeon System Updates Darkheart Thicket Halls of Valor Helheim Black Rook Hold The Dungeons The expansion will feature ten all-new dungeons, presumably at launch. The five level-up dungeons can be completed in any order, have no level requirement (well, probably aside from the minimum for the expansion), and scale up to your character’s power. After the loose connection of Warlords dungeons to its zones, the Legion dungeons will help bring the storylines together. These include: Eye of Azshara Neltharion’s Lair, which is the former abode of the Earth Warder, himself Halls of Valor, home of Odyn, as well as powerful Val’kyr

Exploring Draenor: Orc Travellers

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: The Cracking Plains, Frostfire Ridge Reward: Talisman of Yearning Unfulfilled The windswept tundra of Frostfire Ridge of a harsh and bitter place. The claws and teeth of wild animals are not the only dangers: the elements themselves have shaped the Frostwolf and Thunderlord orcs of the region into hardy specimens. However, there are still those who lose their way and fall foul of the land. Out on the Cracking Plains, northeast of Darkspear’s Edge, you will find the corpse of a Young Orc Traveler, which players can interact with to receive the Bound Traveler’s Scroll. Opening this will present you with the Fur-Lined Scroll and Snow Hare’s Foot. On

Location: The Blighted Hollow, Tanaan Jungle Reward: Felfire Lit Greatsword Most demons in Tanaan Jungle can be found in one of two places: the Temple of Sha’naar or the Throne of Kil’jaeden. Of the two, the Throne is by far the more difficult area, closely packed with elite demons and patrols. If you want a break from the madness, though, you can venture down the mountain and into a cave known as the Blighted Hollow. To reach the Hollow, climb (or descend) halfway up (or down) the Throne, until you reach the river of flowing green sludge. Cross it and continue heading west, following the path (you can pick

Exploring Draenor: Terky

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Borean Tundra Rewards: White Murloc Egg Astute readers will notice that today’s Exploring Draenor is not, in fact, in Draenor. However, the availability of a baby murloc to everyone, instead of only a limited subset of people (Blizzcon attendees, owners of The Burning Crusade collectors’ edition, a fan website gift, etc), is worth leaving current-expansion content. To reach the White Murloc Egg, which you can use to learn how to summon Terky, you’ll need to make your way back to Azeroth, and north – far, far north. To Northrend, in fact! Murlocs are an endangered species up at the roof of the world – most of them are Gorlocs, an evolved sub-species.

Exploring Draenor: Bleeding Hollow Horror

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Sytgana Cavern, Tanaan Jungle Rewards: Burning Agony The Sytgana Cavern is full of Bleeding Hollow orcs, even if it does look more like a podling den. There are two treasures here – the Endless Staff of Shadow and Bottomless Sytgana Mushroom Brew (see the link for more details) – but the orcs hold their own loot. Namely, a tank trinket in the form of Burning Agony. Of course, it’s not your common or garden blood-crazed orc that holds the trinket. The Bleeding Hollow Horror is so hyped up that even its fellow Bleeding Hollow orcs have chained the crazy bastard to a wall. To reach it, climb the ramp to the right of
