Exploring Draenor: Felspark

by Malon on

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Throne of Kil’jaeden Rewards: Fel Singed Wraps The Throne of Kil’jaeden is a dangerous area, crawling with closely-packed elite demons and orcs. While a lone DPS player can usually tackle most of the one-, two- or sometimes three-mob pulls, anything more will require a group. However, the Throne also contains more deadly enemies: namely, the rare spawns that patrol the peak. While most of the rares in the Throne of Kil’jaeden are demons, Felspark is an exception: a fel-green elemental, which has made the pools of fel sludge around the mountain its home. It is not an unreasonable assumption to believe that Felspark used to be just another fire

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Fangri’la Reward: Burning Incense Brazier, Scout’s Spy Cloak, Fallen Adventurer’s Helm Fangri’la is the most dangerous area in Tanaan Jungle – a sub-zone full to the brim of dangerous elite creatures, which will give anyone without self-healing (or a cheating Hunter) a challenge. Everything in here wants to bite you, eat you or claw your face off – except, oddly, the clan’s blademaster. The aptly-named Krell the Serene is the only neutral mob in Fangri’la – maybe because he’s a safe distance from the mayhem that goes on in the middle of the area. You can find this sabreon meditating on a path leading to to the southern beach

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Ironhold Harbor Reward: Contained Flame and Blueprint: Ice Cutter Cindral the Wildfire is an elemental in the furnace room of a building in the eastern section of Ironhold Harbor – either powering or attracted to the raging heat of the flame. The event is a vignette, rather than a simple rare spawn – spawning Cindral requires a little more work than normal on behalf of the player. When Cindral is ready to fight, a pair of crossed swords will appear on player minimaps, instead of the normal skull icon. Run inside the building to find the furnace room full of lava sludges called Remnant of Cindral. These critters will split

Tim Morten, producer on Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void, has admitted that Blizzard could consider a new Warcraft RTS game, once the final chapter of Starcraft II is over and done with. Speaking to IGN at Gamescom, Morten said, “This isn’t the end of StarCraft, but it’s the end of this story for these characters… We don’t have any specific plans, but I’ll say that the universe has so much potential for more stories, clearly other stories could be told. “It’s very rewarding for us to hear that there’s demand out there for more RTS content in the Warcraft universe so once we’re done with Void I think we’ll get together as a team and talk about what would inspire us to work on next. There’s no question, though, that we’ll consider Warcraft, StarCraft, or even new ideas. Anything is possible.” Morten’s comments show a change for Blizzard, which in the

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: A cave in the moat surrounding Hellfire Citadel, due west Rewards: Fel Imbued Band Tanaan Jungle used to be just another area of Draenor – dangerous, yes, but still savagely beautiful. When the Iron Horde retreated behind their walls and barred the gates behind them, Gul’dan took advantage of the fact and took control from Grom Hellscream. The landscape of the jungle is now a torn and scarred remnant of what it was, rivers of fel sludge running through thick undergrowth and blasted rock alike. But how did the landscape change so markedly from what it was? With the help of Gul’dan’s masters, the Burning Legion, of course. Waves of

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Frostfire Ridge, south-east of Wor’gol Rewards: Garrison Resources We take a break from the wilds of Tanaan this week to bring you another reference to the works of JRR Tolkein. We’ve seen Shelob, as well as the ogres that capture Bilbo and the dwarves. Now it’s time to say hello to a fan-favourite: Gollum. Gollum was an early hobbit, much like Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, in the distant past of Middle Earth. Originally known as Sméagol, he was transformed into a sickly, pale creature that shunned the light, due to his obsession with the One Ring. Appearances by Gollum have always been greeted with enthusiasm by fans of Tolkein’s works, and Blizzard’s developers are no exception: they actually

Exploring Draenor: The Blood Moon

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path. Location: Zeth’gol Rewards: Vial of Red Goo You’ve probably heard the yells from Hellfire Citadel, as the various bosses inside summon their creations to stalk Tanaan Jungle. Siegemaster Mar’tak positions Doomroller outside the gates of the citadel, and the spawn of Kormrok, Terrorfist, marauds near the Iron Front. What you might not realise is that Kil’rogg Deadeye – or, more accurately, his tribe of Bleeding Hollow orcs – are also represented in the zone-wide announcements. Periodically, the Blood Moon will rise above Zeth’gol, in the north-western part of the zone. What the purpose of this massive orb of blood is we have no idea, but you can benefit from it all the same. Location: Zorammarsh Rewards: Emanating Staff of Shadow, Bottomless Sytgana Mushroom Brew (aka, ‘The pocket Mage’). On the opposite side of Zorammarsh to the Cave of Betrayal you will find another opening into the depths of the earth. Guarded by the Bleeding Hollow, the Sytgana Cavern is a breeding ground for mushrooms, plant-life and jumping puzzles. Entering the cave’s rocky mouth in the south-eastern part of the marsh, you will travel down a short and barren tunnel. This soon opens out, through a small cleft, into a verdant cavern, full of life – both plant- and humanoid. Sunbeams criss-cross the space, and vines hang between rocky columns and ledges. You will notice that

By this point, you likely already have your daily route down pat (and a way to get around it quickly), and you’re likely approaching the point at which gear isn’t an issue. With that in mind, we’re going to explore a pirate cave – just for the hell of it, because who doesn’t love pirates? Oh alright, there might be some sweet loot involved, too… Ironbeard’s the name and betrayal’s the game – the first clue
