Another round of hotfixes are hitting today and these seem to be focused primarily on fixing a lot of little bugs more than anything. WoW Developer AMA Transcript

by JR Cook on

Today’s AMA on Reddit yielded a bunch of new information, principally in the form of what will and won’t get fixed in Patch 6.1. The short short version, of course, is that you should not expect any of the following in 6.1: Transmogrification improvements Flying mounts in Draenor Class accessories Race-specific garrison buildings Remodels for Moonkin, warlock pets, and bear (Bear? Really?) Full-on rework of Shaman as a class Updated spell visuals Endgame scenarios Stuff we should expect in 6.1 and/or soon(tm)? Alchemy updates Heirloom collection system Improved flight pathing for faster taxi service Improvements for alts regarding Garrisons New garrison content Ability to customize Garrison music Improvements for low-level PVP battleground rewards Upgrades for crafted gear relevant to Tier 18 …and a surprise involving Grommash being the final expansion boss. Read on for the full set of questions and answers, along with plenty of context and insights from the devs and CMs

Patch 6.0.3 continues to have hotfixes and with today’s maintenance brought even more. The biggest issues in my opinion that have been addresses is the fixing of progress toward Garrison invasions being reset has been fixed and level up items created by professions no longer use reagents that required a daily cooldown. I know a lot of my friends were getting frustrated with not getting their invasions to start so that fix is definitely appreciated. Professions should also be even easier to level up to 600 now. You can read the full hotfix patch notes here December 2 Garrisons, Followers, and Outposts Garrison Invasions Players should now be eligible to receive an Invader’s Forgotten Treasure once a week if they complete the invasion with a Gold Victory. Corrected an issue that was causing progress towards a Garrison invasion to reset each week. Disturbed Podlings and Goren Protectors that spawns inside

Patch 6.0.3 November 18 Hotfixes

by JR Cook on

The WoW developers are still working around the clock after the Warlords release and another round of hotfixes have made it into the game. This round of hotfixes focuses heavily on the popular Garrison’s feature, mainly the buildings and outposts. Also some quests got fixed as well as some more things. You can read the full details here Garrisons, Followers, and Outposts Fishing Shack: The building should now correctly still provide a bonus while it’s under construction. Frostwall Mine: Fixed a number of True Iron Deposits that were spawning inside of pillars and terrain. Mage Tower/Spirit Lodge: Characters under a shapeshifting effect should now be able to use an Ogre Waygate to return to their Garrisons. Outpost, Nagrand: The building bonus for having a Corral should no longer incorrectly dismount Herbalists while harvesting resource nodes. [Requires a realm restart.] Outpost, Spires of Arak: Bonus for the building should now switch

The Warlords launch was very rocky – that’s not news. Blizzard didn’t seem prepared by the popularity of this expansion and the DDoS attacks probably didn’t help either. The first several days were rough and the game was virtually unplayable for many. Blizzard felt the frustrations of their player base and were frustrated themselves. Executive Producer for World of Warcraft, J. Allen Brack published the apology today: WoW Community: I know how much everyone was looking forward to this expansion, and once you were able to get in and start having fun, all the comments I’ve seen indicate that this is one of our best yet. But the quality of the content does not excuse the subpar launch experience we delivered, and I apologize for that. The first two days of the expansion were not a great experience, with many of you facing high queues or significant gameplay problems. We

Server Updates and Nov. 14 Hotfixes

by JR Cook on

Maintenance has ended and the servers are back up. All realms are now up to their original population caps so some queue times should be reduced. However, high population servers are still going to see some (I know my server had a 300 minute wait a little bit ago as I still haven’t been able to log in and play my main at all – so I feel your pain if that’s the case). Bashiok has posted his updates here 9:00 a.m. PST We’re continuing to monitor realms and track any individual issues as they occur. We’re still seeing some issues occurring now that Europe is in their peak playtime, but with greatly reduced frequency compared to before maintenance. All realms are now set back up to their normal population caps. Queues being experienced now are due to demand beyond what the realms are normally capable of handling, and we’ll be

In what is possibly the worst expansion launch since Burning Crusade in terms of server stability issues, Blizzard has announced they are doing emergency maintenance on Saturday to try and combat some of these issues. Extended maintenance scheduled for November 15. Check your launcher for specifics. Details on our continued efforts are forthcoming. — World of Warcraft (@Warcraft) November 14, 2014 Europe maintenance will start at 4:00 AM GMT and will last approximately 6 hours. US maintenance will begin at 3:00 AM PST and will also last approximately 6 hours. This change has some hardware upgrades as well as some phasing technology upgrades which will make all of Draenor phase in multiple instances much the same way Tanaan Jungle does. Bashiok confirmed these changes here: We’re making preparations for the Europe maintenance beginning in just an hour, and along with hardware upgrades we will be implementing some of the
