WoW: Battle for Azeroth Island Expeditions Feature, BlizzCon 2017

by - 6 years ago

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth adds a completely new feature called Island Expeditions. Described as “the most replayable, dynamic experience ever in the game,” the islands will form a new branch of content never seen in Warcraft before.

These expeditions are randomly spawning islands that players can explore, similar to the Legion invasion points, but randomized. These “uncharted” islands are spread across the ocean and require 3 players to work together.

Players will scout out these islands and decide if they want to explore them further. They will have varying objectives and goals, such as:

  • Peaceful Zandalari trolls seeking help acquiring resources or some other non-combat task.
  • Ancient, cursed islands filled with the Undead and littered with crypts.
  • Marauding Mogu claiming islands which must be reclaimed.
  • Many more!

Players will arrive in person, overcoming obstacles and finishing objectives while racing against NPCs of the opposite faction. These NPCs have new, rigorously programmed AI, and will attempt to thwart your progress or beat you to completing your goals.

That wraps up the BlizzCon preview of the new Island Expeditions feature for Battle for Azeroth, the latest World of Warcraft expansion. Stay tuned for many more articles!
