7.1.5 to Include New Microholidays, Mists Timewalking

by - 7 years ago

Microholidays

Holidays are nothing new to players of World of Warcraft. But beginning in 7.1.5, new “microholidays” will begin populating our calendars.

Microholidays are much shorter, and typically won’t involve achievements, mounts, or other usual rewards. That’s not to say that they won’t be worth doing, though.

  • Ahn’Qiraj Rememberance Day
    • Commemorates the original opening of the Gates of Ahn’Qiraj on January 22, 2006
    • Takes place in Tanaris
    • Objectives will send players collecting supplies similar to the original event
    • Whoever turns in the most supplies to their faction’s NPC will win a faction-specific flag flying over the area for the rest of the year
  • Volunteer Guard Day
    • /salute a guard in Stormwind or Orgrimmar to don their outfit and switch places with them for a time
    • Players will patrol their respective major city and defend it as if they were guards
  • Hatching of the Hippogryphs
    • Players will gather to watch baby hatchlings fly into the sky on this event
    • Participants will receive a baby hatchling that functions similar to Pepe (not as a pet, but a toy that perches on you)
  • Boat Day
    • Players will gather in Tanaris to relax and enjoy a peaceful event amid the near-constant world ending catastrophies that face Azeroth

Mists of Pandaria Timewalking

Starting in 7.1.5, all six Mists of Pandaria dungeons will be updated to work in Timewalking–a random week in which players can go back in time (and item level) to relive old dungeons for current content rewards, toys, gear, and other prizes.

Going forward, the team believes that Timewalking will typically add dungeons from the expansion two expansions ago, not the last one. They feel that players coming out of the last expansion will likely not want to bash their brains against dungeon content they just burned through.
