Legion Class Preview: Warrior

by - 3 years ago

The Warrior Legion class preview blog post went up recently detailing streamlined abilities and resource generation, as well as some other updates. Below, we’ve summarized the changes to each of the class’s specs, including ability, talent, and rotation changes.

Key Notes

  • Goal is to “significantly expand” customizability through the new spec-specific talents
  • Arms and Fury both have five rows of core throughput talents
  • Ability lists below may seem sparse because they’re focusing more talents for Warriors
  • Arms now uses Colossal Might to directly improve Colossal Smash in place of its old Mastery
  • Fury has been significantly adjusted to speed up the play style
  • Protection has a new massive damage reduction skill called Ignore Pain

For Arms, they’ve focused on adding for flavor for both fantasy and gameplay, although this is through talent choices. One of their biggest changes is the new Colossal Might, which replaces their Mastery and directly increases the efficacy of Colossus Smash.

Protection’s core fantasy is strongly established as the definitive tanking archetype, so they’re focusing more on tuning mechanics, including:

  • Replacing Shield Barrier with Ignore Pain to remove a “choice trap” between it and Shield Block
  • Ignore Pain “massively” reduces incoming damage up to a cap based on max health and will be the primary defensive Rage-spender; it doesn’t compete with Shield Block as much and is a more distinct separate tool
  • Protection Warriors now primarily build Rage through taking damage and some baseline generation through ability usage
