DragonCon Warcraft Panel

by - 9 years ago

Elvine and MMO Central Events are at DragonCon this week and were able to attend the World of Warcraft panel. While they were there they live-tweeted some of the information that was talked about for the upcoming expansion: Legion.

As always there is the caveat that the expansion is currently in development and always subject to change, but some of the potential changes are rather exciting.

Demon Hunters

  • Demon Hunters are currently planned to start at level 98
  • Double Jump will be disabled in certain areas where it would allow you to access areas you should not be able to
  • They will wield Glaives and 1-handed swords
  • Illidan will be leading Demon Hunters against the legion
  • Primarily a melee class, a couple of ranged abilities/talents, but resources only regenerate from melee attacks
  • They ARE a hero class, but that only means they will have a different backstory. Though they may be a bit OP to start off.

General changes

  • Dungeons are a big topic of conversation and should be more relevant again
  • The development team has “plans” for Jaina
  • No changes will be made to the existing world, specific example was no new park in Stormwind
  • Multistrike is gone, changes planned for other secondary/tertiary stats
  • No more weapons outside of Artifacts, Major Glyphs are gone
  • Limit of 3 equipped crafted items will carry forward into Legion

Artifact weapons

  • Different from Legendary items because Artifact weapons level up

Professions

  • There is a whole new team working on professions
  • More items for crafting will be obtainable from dungeons
  • Profession changes will carry forward, only requires skill level 1 to craft Legion items
  • No information yet on if there will be perks for higher skill levels since there will be “little or no” more cooldown materials
  • No more staged upgrade tokens
  • To upgrade items in Legion the original item is destroyed, then use the materials (Obliterium) to craft the upgraded item
  • Prospecting may be returning
  • Professions will be more guided in Legion, including quests and dungeon drops

Classes

  • Certain resources are being renamed
    • Shadow Priest resource is called ‘Insanity’
  • Rangari does not open a lore door to Draenei Rogues
  • Rogues Class Order will be the Dalaran Sewers, but they look “rad”, not like sewers. Ravenholdt is “a house in a field”.
  • Survival Hunters (melee spec) will get a Harpoon ability that allows them to throw their spear and pull mobs toward them
  • There is not currently an update to the Boomkin model planned
    • Blizzard clarified later that there IS a Boomkin model update planned:

Transmog and Collections

  • Transmog system is changing to work like Diablo‘s system, new UI and will free up a LOT of bag space
    • It sounds like transmog items MAY be account-wide, but waiting for clarification
  • There aren’t enough resources to give each race its own class look for gear
  • No answer at this time for why tabards are not transmoggable
  • Yes, there will be an extra character slot per realm (bringing us to 12) so we are able to have one of each class on a realm for those that choose to
  • No, there will be no additional void storage slots added but with the change to transmog they shouldn’t be necessary

Reputation

  • All reputation factions in Legion will be new factions

Flying

  • Flight will unlock expansion wide, not a per-zone basis as that can cause things to feel disjointed

Huge thanks go out to Elvine and MMO Central Events for tweeting all of this information out!
