Exploring Draenor: Krell the Serene

by - 9 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

Location: Fangri’la

Reward: Burning Incense Brazier, Scout’s Spy Cloak, Fallen Adventurer’s Helm

Fangri’la is the most dangerous area in Tanaan Jungle – a sub-zone full to the brim of dangerous elite creatures, which will give anyone without self-healing (or a cheating Hunter) a challenge. Everything in here wants to bite you, eat you or claw your face off – except, oddly, the clan’s blademaster.

The aptly-named Krell the Serene is the only neutral mob in Fangri’la – maybe because he’s a safe distance from the mayhem that goes on in the middle of the area. You can find this sabreon meditating on a path leading to to the southern beach of Tanaan Jungle, looking out to sea.

Looks more ‘biting your face off’ than serene

To reach Krell, enter Fangri’la and head right, down the slope into the basin before the arena. There will be a huge skull with antlers in the middle, which will let you know that you’re in the right place. From here, run up the slope on the opposite side. Ignore the first level of caves, and turn left on to the second level. Run past the cave on the right – be aware of the aggresive patrolling sabreon – and up a short path to reach the blademaster.

Krell is often active, mainly because he’s located behind and a safe distance away from the main camp. His abilities are a dangerous mix of Warrior (Bladestorm) and the upcoming Demon Hunter (Keen Edge), with a little critical strike action thrown in for good measure (Deadly Strike). Whether this latter ability can crit a tank, I’m not sure. However, while Krell is dangerous if you’re fooling enough to stand toe-to-toe with him, keep moving and you’ll be safe.

Two treasures are located nearby. The first, Scout’s Belongings, are on a ledge overlooking the entire sub-zone. From Krell’s location, start heading back down the path, but turn left when it forks (before the cave). Here, you will find an Iron Horde orc (Grom’kar Deadeye), gathering intel on the sabreon’s movements (not that they’re making many; they seem content to sit, fight amongst themselves and casually murder the occasional adventurer) – he even has a telescope. At the back of the ledge, you will find a bundle of belongings containing the Scout’s Spy Cloak.

As for those adventurer’s I mentioned, you can find the remains of one at the back of the cave you ran past on the way to Krell. Run down the slope from the Deadeye’s perch and into the cave. After killing the sabreon in here (there can be as many as five), you’ll find the Discarded Helm right at the rear, which contains the Fallen Adventurer’s Helm.
