Exploring Draenor: Cindral the Wildfire

by - 9 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

Location: Ironhold Harbor

Reward: Contained Flame and Blueprint: Ice Cutter

Cindral the Wildfire is an elemental in the furnace room of a building in the eastern section of Ironhold Harbor – either powering or attracted to the raging heat of the flame. The event is a vignette, rather than a simple rare spawn – spawning Cindral requires a little more work than normal on behalf of the player.

When Cindral is ready to fight, a pair of crossed swords will appear on player minimaps, instead of the normal skull icon. Run inside the building to find the furnace room full of lava sludges called Remnant of Cindral. These critters will split into several smaller enemies, and have an area-damage shield called Immolation. They’re basically the elemental version of a Destruction Warlock, so you should feel no remorse when killing them.

Once all the Remnants are dead, Cindral will appear in the middle of the room. It will continually spawn more Remnants, although quite slowly – just cleave them down and you’ll be fine. You will also be assaulted with a ground-based AoE called Flame Blossom, and a direct damage ability called Lava Splash. Both of these are interruptible, and Cindral will simply spam them.

Back in the day (Burning Crusade through Catalcysm), Cindral would have been one of the most sought-after rare spawns in Tanaan. Fire elementals have long dropped the crafting materials necessary for the most popular enchants and items: Mote of Fire, Crystallized Fire and Volatile Fire, for example. The system was changed in Mists of Pandaria to use Mote of Harmony, which dropped from almost every mob in the expansion. In Warlords of Draenor, the elemental reagents (Sorcerous Fire, for example), are a byproduct of crafting.
