Exploring Draenor: Felbore

by - 9 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

Location: A cave in the moat surrounding Hellfire Citadel, due west

Rewards: Fel Imbued Band

Tanaan Jungle used to be just another area of Draenor – dangerous, yes, but still savagely beautiful. When the Iron Horde retreated behind their walls and barred the gates behind them, Gul’dan took advantage of the fact and took control from Grom Hellscream. The landscape of the jungle is now a torn and scarred remnant of what it was, rivers of fel sludge running through thick undergrowth and blasted rock alike.

But how did the landscape change so markedly from what it was? With the help of Gul’dan’s masters, the Burning Legion, of course. Waves of demons poured through the portals opened by the warlock and his acolytes, demolishing and rebuilding Tanaan into a more pleasing image.

Felbore

One of these demons is the infernal, Felbore, which seems to have just one purpose in life: digging. Okay, two: digging and cracking heads. While the other demons have scattered to areas like the Throne of Kil’jaeden and the Temple of Sha’naar, Felbore has remained at the centre of the zone, mindlessly tunnelling new caves.

After going through the cave entrance and killing a few easy non-elites, you will find the infernal in a second, smaller cavern to the rear. When you find Felbore, the creature is midway through drilling into the solid bedrock of Tanaan Jungle, channelling fel energies to blast its way forward.

Felbore is a large demon with 2.3 million health, and a relatively long fight if solo. The encounter is one of the few fights in which melee players actually have an advantage: not only do Felbore’s attacks force movement, kiting the demon is very difficult; it will reset if pulled out of the rear cave. The demon’s area-damage aura (Felflame Shield) will deal damage to everyone nearby, even those not engaged in melee combat, while Rupturing Slam will slowly fill the space with void zones. Finally, Cavernous Tremors makes kiting even more of a pain, slowing and damaging all combatants.

Unless you’re in raid gear, or are a cheating pet class, bring a friend to deal with this living bulldozer.
