Location: Stonefury Cliffs, Frostfire Ridge

Rewards: Moltnoma’s Magma Mantle

Moltnoma is an elemental thriving in the steam and heat of the lava flows in the Stonefury Cliffs. It stands at the head of the ‘river’, in a small caldera at the centre of the ogre’s village – which plays a crucial role in the encounter.

While Moltnoma, as a fire elemental, glories in the lethal environment that it lives in, you are not so lucky. That is where the level 92 Lava Slimes come in to play. What is a level 92 doing in a level 100 area, you ask? So you can rub their super-heated, slimy remains all over your body, of course! Killing the Slimes while standing near to them will give you the debuff Lava Slimed, which protects you from the molten rock. The debuff – and it is a debuff, so don’t use anything that wipes them: Ice Block, Cloak of Shadows, etc – lasts for 40 seconds, which should give you enough time to pull and kill another Slime even while fighting the elite.

Now that the lava is dealt with, what does the elemental itself throw at you? For starters, it’s a literal gauntlet to reach the creature; Moltnoma will be rolling fiery boulders down the lava towards you as you make your way upwards. Avoid them as best you can, and engage with the hot-headed menace.

Moltnoma only has three abilities. First, Waterbolt. Using this will, of course, turn the creature to stone, so simply smash it and collect your loot.

Not buying it? Fine. In reality, the elemental will attack you with Fire Nova, Lava Burst and Molten Barrage. None of these hit especially hard, but Barrage is the most dangerous – it replicates the boulders that Moltnoma attacks with to start. The real danger is in losing your Lava Slimed debuff, as the lava will kill even a level 100 in 4-5 ticks.

Nearby, in the tower directly north-west of Moltnoma’s caldera, you will find a Draenor treasure: the Cragmaul Cache. It is behind a pile of rocks underneath the ‘stairs’ leading up the tower, and contains a Primal Spirit and some Apexis Crystals.
