Exploring Draenor: Jabberjaw

by - 9 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

Location: Frostfire Ridge; Stonefury Cliffs, east of Daggermaw Ravine

Rewards: Rockworm Carapace Shield

Yes, look, I know that we covered a rockworm last week. I know that we did a lava worm a few weeks before. I know! The sad fact of the matter is that I need to be able to log in to WoW to gather the information for Exploring Draenor, and I haven’t had any time this week, so I’m going through my (rapidly-dwindling) supply of notes. If you have any specific rares, vignettes or treasures that you’d like to see covered in the coming weeks, let me know!

The Bloodmaul ogre clan carves out its existence on the Stonefury Cliffs of northern Frostfire; a harsh landscape that is either scorching-hot near the lava flows, or biting cold away from them. As if that weren’t enough, most of the wildlife of the zone is trying to kill and eat them. It’s a hard life, being an ogre.

Jabberjaw

One such creature is Jabberjaw, a rockworm with the charming title, <Devourer of Ogres>. It is surrounded by the corpses of Draenei and Frostwolf slaves, though – this worm’s appetite is pretty indiscriminate. It’s not infeasible to imagine that the Bloodmaul are sacrificing slaves to keep Jabberjaw away from their homes. Hey, no-one ever said that an oppressed minority has to be nice.

Jabberjaw can be soloed, but I wouldn’t advise it as a fresh 100. Not only can he bypass physical defences with Freezing Breath, his Sweep will interrupt spell casting. The worm will periodically burrow into the ground, healing himself for a large amount. This is the perfect time to heal yourself as well – if you can’t cast your own heals, keep a stack of bandages on hand.

Children of the ’70s and ’80s may recognise the worm as a reference to a Hanna-Barbera cartoon of the same name.
