Location: Central Shadowmoon Valley, South of Teluuna Observatory

Reward: Darktalon’s Drape

Alliance players questing through Shadowmoon Valley will run into several rare mobs on their travels. Bahumeye, Killmaw, and of course the Podling kings. Back on the beta, though, one creature was feared and respected above all: Darktalon.

Darktalon is a fearsome Dread Raven, with unusual purple glowing plumage, who nests in the hills above Teluuna Observatory. Not only has she got some pretty savage abilities of her own, but it’s incredibly easy to pull the Darktalon Hatchlings and Darktalon Young that also populate the area.

While the Hatchlings only boast a single ability – Screech – the Young add in Headbutt. These birds love to crash their heads into you, sending you flying off the edge of a slope or into a pack of additional mobs. Fight with your back to a wall.

As for Darktalon herself, she adds Quills into the Screech and Headbutt abilities that her children know.

On the beta, Darktalon did massive damage and was difficult, if not impossible, to solo at-level. On live, her abilities – especially Quills – have been nerfed, but fighting her can still be a pain if you get hit by a surprise Headbutt. Have you seen the size of that beak? That’s going to hurt.
