Exploring Draenor: Borrok the Devourer

by - 9 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

Location: East Crackling Plains, Frostfire Ridge

Task: Sous chef

Rewards: Carapace Shield of the Devourer

The ogres of Frostfire Ridge have an annoying habit of worshipping things that are very bad for them. Over in Stonefury Cliffs, the Bloodmaul ogres bow down to the Soul-Gorger, while to the east, the Grimfrost revere Borrok the Devourer – a massive lava worm. And with a name like that, how do you think they honour him?

When you come across the lava pool that Borrok has made his home, you’ll find a group of ogres preparing to pay tribute to the creature with a – very unlucky – Frostwolf orc. The Grimfrost Wormpriest is calling out to their ‘god’, while Grimfrost Drudges look on.

Borrok's worshippers

Killing the Wormpriest will summon Borrok, who proceeds to chow down on his worshipper.

Borrok

The goal of this vignette is not to kill Borrok, but instead to feed him enough to satisfy him – and, luckily for you, there’s a ready food source at hand.

Grimfrost Drudges will run into the area continuously and melee you. Defeating them will cause them to kneel, after which you can pick them up and carry them into the feeding area – the dark patch of ground in front of Borrok’s pool. You will be instantly rooted and the worm will rip the ogre from your shoulders.

Ogre 'corpse'

Poor Drudge had such potential. He was training to be a Grimfrost Doorman.

Be careful – if you stand in the feeding area without an ogre, Borrok will pick you up, instead. This only deals a little damage at level 100, but levelling players should be wary.

After feeding Borrok enough ogres, he belches forth a Devourer’s Gutstone. Loot it for your reward – but try not to get covered in magma spit while doing so. That stuff never comes out.
