Warcraft Movie Release Date Pushed Back to Summer 2016

by - 9 years ago

Disappointing but also potentially very exciting news came out of Legendary Studios this afternoon. Legendary made two announcements regarding release dates of upcoming movies: the first referred to Pacific Rim 2.

The second was an update on the release date for the upcoming Warcraft movie which has been pushed back from its most recent release date of March 11th, 2016, and will now be released on June 10th, 2016.

While this news may be disappointing for those who are excited to see the movie as soon as possible, at the same time the studio is showing a lot of faith in the movie by giving it a summer release date. Summer movies are usually those which a studio feels will perform well and, to put it bluntly, make lots of money. By pushing the release date it could mean that the studio has seen early edits of the film and they like what they see, and feel it has great potential to be a summer blockbuster.

It also means that the film’s team has some additional time to make the best movie possible which is almost never a bad thing.

And so the hype train for the Warcraft movie will continue to pick up steam over the next 14 months, hopefully to arrive in theaters and crush the competition. Meanwhile I’ll be at BlizzCon hoping to view a trailer for the movie to tide me over until the release date.

Based on a quick glance at movieinsider.com, other films potentially releasing on the same day: The Conjuring 2, Now You See Me 2, and Uncharted. How do you think the Warcraft movie could stack up against these films?

lol I am so thankful asshats like this stopped playing WoW. Better yet, I’d be even more thankful if they’d stop breathing. Anonymousitis strikes again… 🙂 You go with your bad self Mr. Internet Toughguy 🙂

How is a game that has evolved so much over the years obsolete? It still leads the world as an MMORPG, every WoW killer out there hasn’t touched it. Plus if history has taught us anything it’s that movies do not effect the sales or popularity of a game or Super Mario would have died so long ago..
