Exploring Draenor: Song of Silence

by - 9 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

Location: Mok’gol Watchpost, Nagrand

Rewards: Apexis Crystals, Leggings of Howling Winds, Brutag’s Iron Toe Boots

You probably know Mok’gol Watchpost from your Apexis dailies, but to truly shut the stronghold down you’ll need to complete an achievement to take out the leaders. To get those precious achievement points for completing The Song of Silence, you will need to brutally murder Karosh Blackwind, Brutag Grimblade, Gortag Steelgrip and Krahl Deadeye.

Gates of Mok'gol

The orcs are located around Mok’gol, but three of them are in the raised central area, across a dry moat. The sole orc in the village proper is Karosh Blackwind, who – as the name suggests – is a Shaman. He will attack with Wind Crack, a single-target direct damage ability that he spams. In the finest traditions of shamanism, he will also summon spirit wolves (Spectral Savager) with Spectral Pack, but their damage is negligible.

Karosh can be found near the village’s standing stone, appearing to teach some of the Grunts. Make sure that they never finish their training.

Next is Brutag Grimblade – a sadistic orc throwing axes at a Helpless Draenei. If you have a conscience you won’t attack him, as the draenei will be executed as soon as Brutag is pulled. Brutag is a Warrior; he concentrates on damaging multiple enemies with Reaping Blade and Whirling Steel.

Brutag and his draenei prisoner are located next to the tree to the left of the path leading to the largest building in Mok’gol, which contains Garrosh’s shackles.

Brutag Grimblade

Finding Gortag and Krahl is a bit more involved. These two mobs appear together, but must be summoned first. In the course of your pillaging, you may have run across the Secret Meeting Details, dropped by the Mok’gol Pack Leaders. These are required to call the final Mok’gol orcs.

After looting the Details, run to the large central hut again. To the right of the door (when looking at the building) is a wooden post, supporting a red awning; you will find the Signal Horn on this post. The Horn will despawn for about five minutes after being blown.

Gortag and Krahl will spawn between the nearby bridge and the hut, walking towards it. Attack them and Krahl will yell about an ambush. Unlike the other two orc champions, Gortag and Krahl only have a single combat ability each: Death Bound for Gortag, a Death Grip-like effect, and Rain of Arrows for Krahl, an AoE ability similar to Hunters’ (now-removed) Volley. Krahl will leap backwards (effectively Disengage) before casting Rain of Arrows, so avoid fighting him in an area where there are other mobs.

Focus on Gortag first, then turn your attention to Krahl. Hitting Krahl with any direct damage while he is channelling Rain of Arrows will cancel the cast and bring him into melee range, where he hits like a wet noodle.
