The Community Team (specifically CM Lore) has graced us with another round of Crash Course videos designed to teach you the basics of your class, and this time they’re up to date with Patch 6.0.2, wherein a lot of class rotations changed dramatically.

My only critique about these videos is that you’re only learning one spec per class. For many classes, teaching the basics of the damage spec is likely a boon to benefit players who otherwise are flying blind with how to use their abilities, but for classes that have multiple DPS specs (or classes like Priest that have more healing specs than DPS specs) you might not be getting the exact brand of information you want.

Then again, these are specifically branded as brief overviews, and don’t really do more than cover the basic single-target rotation and execute-phase abilities of each spec. It really behooves Blizzard to give players a taste of what you’re supposed to do and then allow interested players to seek out new knowledge either through experimentation in-game or by looking at all the community resources out there that take the time to cover it in much more detail… as demonstrated by the Wowhead links at the end of the post (one of our writers, Malon, wrote the Mage guide!).

No matter how you slice it, this is a good place to start for a lot of new players, or players who are experimenting with a new class or a long-abandoned alt that’s just benefited from the level 90 character boost acquired from purchasing Warlords of Draenor.
