Exploring Draenor: Time-Lost Tower

by - 10 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

We’re returning to Frostfire this week for an examination of a vignette that might have come right from a meddling Bronze Dragon – if there were any on Draenor.

Location: Next to the Forbidden Glacier
Task: Explore
Rewards: Vendor trash (about 10g’s worth) and Primalist’s Prismatic Pendant

The Mor’dul Tower is located to the east of Bladespire Fortress – the citadel is within view from the Tower’s base (but not the top – read on to see why), and Horde players will come very close to it during the course of their quests. Due to accidental ogre intervention, it is now known as the Time-Lost Tower.

Two ogres stand outside. Obviously not the brightest weapons in the rack, even for ogres, they are standing over an artefact, which is active and spewing energy at the Tower. Their conversation consists of arguing over whose fault it is that the building and everything inside it are frozen in time.

Entering the Tower (you’ll immediately notice that the artefact’s magic slows you to 85% of your normal speed. Quite why you’re not frozen isn’t explained; maybe we’re just more stubborn?) will create golden rings at the portal blocking the entrance. If you look back outside, you’ll see that the rest of the world has vanished in a temporal storm.

You can briefly speed yourself up by collecting Time Anomalies – small, glowing golden sparks floating throughout the Tower. It’s not strictly necessary, there’s nothing to threaten you inside, but it will make your work in here go faster.

As you work your way upwards, you’ll come across several ogres who were obviously busy; one is running up the tower, three are falling from the top (you’ll need to walk over the cross-beams to reach them) and one is cowering in fear at the apex. You can rifle their pockets (and loincloths – definitely wash your hands after exploring this place) to loot various fun items, like an Ogre Toe Ring.

On reaching the top you’ll find the Bladespire Primalist, who looks pretty worried – he’s surrounded by fireballs. A spell gone wrong? An effect of the artefact? Some form of external attack? No idea, but it’s fun to speculate. Speaking of the fireballs, avoid them; you’ll take damage on contact.

Loot the Primalist and jump off the Tower – the Wings of Time will bring you safely back to the ground.

The Time-Lost Tower is a particularly fun event, showing what powerful ogre magic can do in the wrong (i.e. stupid) hands.

Come back next week, when we visit an old friend.

How do you go about looting their pockets? I can’t seem to find any interaction on the suspended ogres and it’s not appearing as an event on my map. Help, please! 🙂
