Exploring Draenor: Bloodthorn Cave

by - 10 years ago

Exploring Draenor delves into the hidden places of the world that will one day become Outland. From the volcanic landscape of Frostfire to the gloomy dells of Shadowmoon, these articles are your guide to events that are off the beaten path.

Location: Shadowmoon Valley.

TaskKill and collect

Rewards: Roona, an Arcane Mage follower with the Time Warp and Wastelander abilities.

The Bloodthorn Cave is the first bonus objective that most Alliance players will come across. Hidden (although not very well) in a cliff on the western edge of Shadowmoon, just south of the Alliance Garrison, the cave also offers one of the first new followers that can be recruited. The entrance is guarded by ravagers, although they don’t venture inside – or at least, those that do don’t come out again.

Roona is a Draenei Mage just inside the Bloodthorn Cave, and she’s in a spot of bother. Her friends have been dragged off by the pale orcs that infest the place, and it’s up to you to rescue them. You’ll find them dotted around the cave, being threatened by the beasts.

On your way around the cave, you’ll probably notice that the orcs are adept at clinging to the walls of their damp home. None is quite so good at this as Gorum: a rare creature in the cavern to the right of the entrance. He’s stuck to the ceiling, ready to pounce on an unwary adventure’s head. Defeating him will reward you with a Precious Bloodthorn Loop, which is suitable for any class and can grant stealth at the cost of health.

Rescuing Roona’s friends isn’t the only thing to do inside the Bloodthorn Cave, however.  The bonus objective tasks you with killing 20 pale orcs and collecting mushroom squeezings, for which you’ll receive about 60g.
