Warcraft Movie Wraps First Week of Shooting

by - 10 years ago

Director Duncan Jones tweeted out that the first week of principal photography for the Warcraft movie has wrapped up in Vancouver. Apparently this week’s shooting covered a lot of territory:

While that doesn’t tell us much about what was shot, there are these tweets from a couple weeks back:

Sooo… Durotan’s hood and a pub. Really could be scenes from anywhere in the film at this point, since modern productions don’t usually shoot scenes in order. Consequently, it’s hard to speculate on what the content could be, even when we know so little about the details of the film.

The main takeaway? Filming is happening, this production is going forward, and in… twenty-five months we’ll all be going to see the film in our local cinemas. Hopefully, by then we’ll know a bit more about what’s going on, no? ^_^

I’m really glad the film is actually being made now. When Duncan Jones was announced as the new director, lots of people were sceptical, but it was pretty clear to me that shit was finally going down, as Jones was clearly excited to be part of it. And now, this week, we know it’s really happening.

I can’t wait for when it comes out. Though I am really curious about how it’ll be marketed, as Warcraft is very much known as a geeky thing, which would put off a wider audience, unlike Prince of Persia or Tomb Raider etc.

he also mentioned having lengthy discussions about “orc feet” at one point, i think.
