Achievement Hunters Weekly: The Albino Drake

Achievement Hunters everywhere really do revel in the rewards they obtain while racking up Achievement points.

One of my favorite Achievement rewards is the mount, the Albino Drake. Now, some people will hardly call this a “reward” because it is given to a player when they’ve collected 50 mounts, and most Acheivement hunters will say that collecting 50 mounts is fairly easy.

However, this mount is just too good to pass up as an everyday-use mount. “This is the mount I will ride everywhere!” The reasons I love this mount are numerous.

First of all, it is a gorgeous looking mount. Its scales are white as snow, tinged with an icy blue hue on its back and wings. No other drakes are albino. Albino drakes are not really heard of in game lore, the novels, or anywhere really. In a world where the color of your scales determines what kind of drake you are, the Albino drake is a free spirit, not bound or confined to the roles of its birthright.

Sure while attempting to collect the amount of mounts you’ll need to even earn the Albino Drake, you are very likely to come across a mount that is your preferred steed. But there’s nothing quite like flying through Azeroth on the back of an all-white dragon. Many people tend to prefer colors like red, or blue, perhaps because of the standardization of red and blue representing our factions, but why not be something unique? You could fly around on a dragon that really isn’t accepted by any other Dragon race because it is colorless, yet the Albino drake owns it! He accepts his uniqueness, and defines himself by it.

I seem to have gone off on a tangent, speaking so lovingly of my favorite mount in the game.

As mentioned before, this mount is fairly easily obtained. It is rewarded to players who collect 50 mounts. Here’s some basic knowledge to help you along with that.

42 mounts can be obtained quite simply by getting to exalted with each of the races of your faction (or leveling 1 character of every race in a faction to level 40 to include swift mounts and then level 60 for your faction flying mounts) and purchasing each available racial mount and your faction’s flying mounts at level 60. 42 whopping mounts!

The other 8 are really up to you.
Blizzard store mounts?
Rare drop mounts?
Whatever your fancy, some of them aren’t very hard to obtain anymore (such as the Bronze Drake from the Heroic Culling of Stratholme instance or the Black Drake from Obsidian Sanctum).

Overall, for an arguably “easy” achievement to obtain, you get a very amazing looking mount, one that is sure to impress you as you roam the skies of Azeroth, Outlands, Pandaria, or wherever your travels take you.

What is your favorite mount? Let me know in the comments below.

Until next week, good luck hunting Achievements.
